Reflection

This class and this project have taught me many things as well as helped put me on the right track for my future self. I have struggled to come up with the right answers for my future as when I was younger, I thought that it would just come to me like an epiphany that would help me figure my life out. Even though that may not be the case, in actuality it was close to it. I used soccer as a reference for my motif because not only do I know a lot about it, but I feel closely connected to it as it gave me a purpose to strive for when I was younger. Like I mentioned it helped me to learn things when I needed to as I was young, new to the U.S., and did not have many friends at the time.

The older I get the more I realize that the choices we pick now affect us not only in the present but also in the future. What we learn in one subject or place can be used as a steppingstone in another subject or place. This class has taught me that we all have choices to make, but we do not have to rush to pick an option form the get go as sometimes patience will lead to the right answer. In the beginning I thought that this would be a typical boring class where we would read and annotate a book, but that was not the case. As I read the book, I was inspired to use the knowledge to benefit not only myself but also my family and friends. I started to talk about the book and its contents to my parents during dinner time, and eventually my mom asked me to lend her the book so that she could read it because it sounded so interesting and eye opening that even she wanted to read it.

This project was like no other as it was solely based on our creativity, ingenuity, and the knowledge we have accumulated throughout our life to use as a templet to showcase what we have achieved in the small window of time that we have been alive for. I really enjoyed this project because it got my creative side out, which is sometimes hard for most classes to do as most of these projects tend to be group based. Picking the 12 artifacts was a little bit of a challenge for me as I had a lot of things I wanted to use, but a limited amount that I could use. What made it easier was making four title slides and picking what artifacts could go into that title. I chose coaching, teammates, the game, and the win to be my main titles because it made splitting up the artifacts a lot easier. I chose artifacts that helped teach me things, which would belong to the coaching title slide. I chose artifacts that brought me friends or closer to people for the teammates title. The game and the win titles were a little challenging as they could be interchanged, so I decided to break down the two titles further. The game dealt with the things that helped me learn from past mistakes, be they mine or others, such as the Interview, Scott Galloway’s “Algebra of Happiness,” and the Happiness Hypothesis. The win was broken down to the reflection of the game, what helped me win? Such as the German Portfolio, the Whole Life Project, and the Gratitude letter. From there it made it a lot easier to finish things up, and I must say it is good to be done and see the final project complete as even I am proud of my work.
