After The Game

The game does not last forever, it has and endpoint. Sometimes it may go into after time, and other times it may be cut short due to a mercy ruling. This is just like life, sometimes an activity or job that your doing will go on for a few months or years, but eventually a time will come for you to move on. Whether that be retirement or a new job, whether that may be the end of sophomore year in college or the end of your senior year in college. There will always come a time where one event ends and a new event begins. But it is important to not let it just end. What one must do when one event ends is reflect on what happened. What did you do well on? What helped you achieve success? And use what you learned to move forward onto the new event. This page is dedicated to the people and things that have helped me move from one section of life to another.

Gratitude Letter

This was the gratitude letter that I wrote to my current parents. I say current because I was adopted in 2007 with my sister from Ukraine. Originally I wanted to save this letter for Christmas, however, for the sake of the project this became an early Christmas gift to my parents. Without my parents I would not be here today, I would not be who I am right now. Heck, I have no idea what my life would like without what they did for me and my sister. Well when I showed them this letter, things got emotional. I'm not someone who shows their "soft" or "emotional" side too much and it sort of felt awkward for me at first as both of them were crying (happily) and thanked me for this letter. After all of that, when I was in my room later that night, I had this strange happiness overcome me. It felt like out of the blue, I was overcome with happiness and at that point I realized that showing gratitude not only makes those you show gratitude to happy, but it makes you happy as well. It sort of felt like an empty piece of me was suddenly filled and I was lighter and happier.

Whole Life Project

The Whole Life Project was a freshman intro to engineering project. The whole concept of the project was to see where we were at at the end of the intro to engineering class, and whether or not we wanted to continue to pursue engineering. This was a wake up moment for me where I realized that engineering was not for me. I still enjoy engineering and the concepts behind it, however I could not learn at the pace of the others and the concepts were sometimes harder for me to understand. This did not discourage me as I still use engineering in my day to day life, such as helping my best friend and his brother build decks and porches for people. But it made me realize that I needed to pick something else to study. So I changed my major to Business, and now I have had two full semesters of Business and I'm really enjoying it, I understand it and I can see myself following a career in this. All in all, I closed one chapter, opened another, but still used what I learned from the first chapter to help guide me in my current chapter.

German Portfolio

The German portfolio may seem to be out of place here, but trust me it is not. This portfolio has helped me to further understand what must be done in my near and far future to achieve my goals. Like I mentioned previously, I changed my major from engineering to business, but that was not all. At the time I also wanted to do a German minor or major. This was something I was confused about before as I was not sure if I wanted to do a minor or a major due to engineering consuming a lot of my time. This class was a junior level class and it helped me realize that I really wanted to do a major in German. This made my decision to switch from engineering to business a lot easier since it allowed me to focus on two majors which would benefit me more in the future. This class also allowed me to look back and see what I needed to do in order to accomplish this and it made my choices a lot easier.
